Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is an altered state of mind that occurs to us on a regular basis throughout the day, while we are driving to when we read a book. It is because these states of consciousness are so banal in our everyday lives that we do not consider them as hypnotic states.
Sometimes when we are driving a car we have a feeling that we can remember how we got to one place, almost as if we were day dreaming. This is a state of hypnosis. When reading a book, our mind sometimes drifts away into other things, however we do continue to read the book; this is also a state of hypnosis. Everything we know and learned is stored in our subconscious. The saying "it’s like riding a bike" is very true. We will always remember something we learned, even though we might not use that knowledge in our everyday lives.
A therapist works better with a client when doing hypnotherapy as during a trance at this level the client is more susceptible to suggestions. The trance state is a relaxed, almost sleeping sensation guided by the therapist, during this state of pure and total relaxation the therapist can work together with the client on the issues raised by them.
Treatable conditions include:
• Stopping Smoking • Nail Biting • Weight Control • Assertiveness • Insomnia • Sports Performance • Exam Nerves • Irrational Fears & Phobias • Stress Management |
• Anxiety and Panic Attacks • Stress • Self Confidence • Compulsions • Compulsive Behaviour • Interview Nerves • Performance Anxiety (for Actors, Performers, Writers, Producers & Directors) |
Frequently asked questions:
When I am in trance can you make me cluck like a chicken? Bark like a dog? Act like a new born baby?
No, you will not do anything you do not think is acceptable. That is, you cannot be "made" to violate your own values or accepted patterns of behaviour.
Will I tell you something I’ve never told anyone? Will I talk about things that are private?
The client can terminate a trance state at any time, it is your own choice to enter the trance state, and you can always choose to leave it.
Could I stay "frozen" in one position and never come out of it?
If the therapist left you in a trance state, you would come out if it at your own pace, as if you had had a good nap.
